About The Event

Charlie Chuck started his career as a drummer with various bands in the 1970s and 1980s, including a stint with the Small Faces and the Amazing Bavarian Stompers with whom he performed on an edition of the children's TV series Tiswas in 1981. In the late 1980s, he turned to solo stand-up comedy as the surreally manic 'Charlie Chuck' and, in 1990, he was talent-spotted by the comedian Malcolm Hardee who arranged for him to appear on 'Jools Holland's Happening', a British Satellite Broadcasting TV series produced by Noel Gay Television.

In 1993-1995, he was a cast member of the BBC Two TV series The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer. He appeared performing his Charlie Chuck character act, but was always referred to on-screen as 'Uncle Peter'.

His long-running Charlie Chuck stage act often involved the destruction of a drum kit and was peppered by references to fantasy characters including One Eyed Dog, Cakey Pig and a Donkey. The words "Donkey!" and "Woof! Bark! Donkey!" shouted out more-or-less at random had been part of his Charlie Chuck act and became his 'Uncle Peter' catchphrases on the Reeves & Mortimer TV shows.

A truly unique cult comedy character with a devoted national and international supporters club of devotees he rarely takes to the stage these days but as Life President of Moor Laughs Comedy Club he is excited to return for an encore at the Hollygarth!

As usual with Moor Laughs Comedy nights there will be a strong supporting undercard of comics.

Charlie and the supporting comics will be introduced by 'master of ceremonies' ROBSON STROUD who has managed comedy nights in Ilkley, Leeds, London and Manchester on and off for 28 years and is mentored by cult comedy legend Charlie Chuck aka Reeves and Mortimer's Uncle Peter.

Over the last 5 years Moor Laughs Comedy has been providing more laughs to any venue near the Yorkshire Moors with a decent stage and an excellent bar. We are committed to booking nationally-acclaimed headliners and giving our audience a full ‘supporting undercard’ of quality comedians who we have seen and approved before.

The Hollygarth bar will be open before, after and at the intervals to purchase an impressive range of VERY competitively-priced drinks and snacks.

In the last five years Moor Laughs has booked headliners of the calibre of Geoff Norcott, Gary Delaney, Simon Evans, Jojo Sutherland, Scott Bennett, Shazia Mirza, Leo Kearse, Angelos Epithemiou, Clinton. Baptiste, Noel James, Bobby Mair and Troy Hawke.
